discoverlinux.com - free to the best idea

March 2nd, 2008

I have been sitting on this name for a while, waiting, wondering what to do with it. It finally occurred to me that the linux community can most likely come up with a much better idea, have the tools and software needed to complete the idea, and help more users adopt linux as their operating system.

I am a developer of web applications, and linux based software have made what I do possible, and very inexpensive. The linux community, and communities centered around the technologies I use have helped me create a prosperous career. So, in return, I want to help others and see if the community can create their own site to help others learn and use any linux distribution.

Please post comments on your ideas, or email me directly - alan [at] wizemann [dot] com

The offer is this:
The best idea from a person or team will get the full use and rights to discoverlinux.com. I will simply be the provider for the name and retain a small interest as I would love to see the project grow and become prosperous. The individual or team members will also receive an interest equal to that of mine - and we will set a remaining interest of the name / company to be shared with contributers to the site and community.

I will provide the hosting for the site until it reaches the point where another company and / or contributer can create a home for it.
